Commission
Nichola welcomes a variety of commissions. Her prices are determined by size, medium, complexity and reflect the price of works sold through her gallery. Nichola works in a variety of drawing mediums on different colour paper and on canvas for oil paintings. If you are interested in commissioning a bespoke drawing or an oil painting please contact Nichola with your idea.
How does a Commission work?

After initial contact is made to outline the nature of the desired commission, Nichola will respond with her suggestions and prices.

Once a size, composition, price and time scale is agreed, Nichola will require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the agreed price. After the payment had been received a mutually convenient date and time will be agreed for Nichola to visit the subject matter in person.

Nichola prefers to meet the subject matter so she can experience personality and likeness in person. During her first meeting, photographs and sketches will be taken for reference. After this initial stage, Nichola is open to discuss the photographs to determine the desired composition. Commissioned pieces of children and animals Nichola may prefer to work from photographs as they find it hard to sit still. For other commissions, Nichola may require further visits to take more reference including photographs, sketches, make colour studies and work from life. Occasionally, Nichola will accept the client's photographs e.g. if you live abroad or you require a memory piece.

For more complex oil painting compositions, a preliminary sketch can be requested before starting the final piece.

Upon completion, an email image will be presented for approval or you can approve in-person. The remaining 50% balance will be required prior to delivery or collection.

Nichola is based near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and travelling expenses, travel time, framing, and shipping are extra costs.

Gift Note & Box
If one desires a piece of work for a special occasion and Nichola is already committed to other work, she can provide a gift note and box informing the recipient of the commission and the estimated start time.
Prices
Costs vary according to one’s requirement. In general, 10 x 12 ins drawings start at £600 and 10 x 12 ins oil paintings start at £1200.
